A local couple is stepping up to help out the Peterborough Humane Society.
Judy and Gord Atkins have announced they are giving $100,000 to help build the new Animal Care Centre.
Executive Director Shawn Morey says the money will help them be able to expand educational programming and create the Judy and Gord Atkins Humane Education room.
The room will host educational workshops, summer camps, corporate retreats, and even birthday parties for young animal advocates.
Officials were projecting to start construction on the 20-acre plot of land on Technology Drive this fall, but in light of the pandemic, they’re now planning to begin construction as soon as funding and government regulations allow.
