More confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported at an outbreak at Severn Court Student Residence.
Peterborough Public Health held a media briefing Sunday afternoon and say the latest results show at least 23 cases including a variant of concern.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, says the cases are believed to have been connected to a gathering at the property on February 20th and at least one case has been identified in all six buildings.
In addition to Fleming students, four Trent students have also been infected so far however they are all virtual learners and haven’t been to the campus.
A stay-at-home order has been put in place for those living at Severn Court.
As a proactive step, Fleming College has announced it is cancelling all in-person classes at its Sutherland Campus for 14 days and also suspending placements for students based in Peterborough.
Management of Severn Court released a statement saying until now they haven’t had any confirmed cases, and will continue to fully cooperate with health officials and ramp up safety measures.
PTBO Today will continue to follow the story.
