Peterborough County OPP is asking motorists to avoid a section of Highway 7 today.
Police say the highway is closed between Belmont Concession 11 and Mary Street because of a fatal collision, and add that one of the involved vehicles contains explosives so experts on en route the handle the situation. Police say there is a vehicle fire on the scene as well, but haven’t said if it’s the same vehicle that contains explosives.
OPP say an evacuation of the area has been downgraded to a shelter-in-place, and that they’ll notify residents when it’s safe to leave home. We’ll provide more details as they become available.
