After news that the 24/7 shelter on Wolfe Street will remain 24 hours, the CEO of United Way of Peterborough and District is relieved.
Jim Russell says at the end of the day, these are people that will need options come the winter season.
Russell adds that he thinks somewhere like Carol’s Place is needed locally, as it could take the strain off some neighbourhoods that are near shelters.
Carol’s Place served as a gathering space for the homeless community, and was previously located in Peterborough Square until early 2019.
