Peterborough Police has sent out a tweet, responding some criticism of not being around the visit by NDP leader Jagmeet Singh earlier this week.
Officials say they weren’t aware of Mr. Singh’s visit Tuesday, where we was greeted by supporters but also vocal protesters who hurled insults at him and gave obscene hand gestures.
Singh released a statement and said while disagreements are fundamental to a thriving democracy – hatred, violence and wishing death upon others threaten it. He also added he loves Peterborough and knows it is made up of good people.
Investigators say they’ve reached out to Singh to discuss as there were no calls for service.
