Local residents are being warned about the potential risks of crypto-currency investment deals.
The Peterborough Police are aware of a situation where a Peterborough resident invested over $100-thousand in crypto-currency before they learned it was a scam.
Police say fraud investigators were able to access the funds and return them to the resident, but they add that this is often not the case.
Residents can learn more about crypto-currency investment scams through the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, which recommends using reputable exchanges to get cryptocurrency.
