‘Stand with Tim’, an annual fundraiser held by Peterborough Cares is going to make a return between noon and 9:00 p.m. on August 19th.
Acting Police Chief, Tim Farquharson, says he takes his role in the community very seriously.
In 2022, funds raised will be allocated to two organizations; The New Canadians Centre and The United Way.
The New Canadians Centre works to empower people who are new to Canada, so they can be recognized as equal and valued members of Canadian society, and they provide leadership to cultivate their meaningful economic, social, and cultural inclusion in our community.
United Way Peterborough & District, alongside raising funds to invest in 20 local not-for-profit organizations locally, also implements local initiatives that fill identified needs in our community for vulnerable individuals and families. Since it began in 2003, their Backpacks for Success program has provided more than 11,000 backpacks containing grade-appropriate school supplies to local youth in Kindergarten through Grade 12 as well as adult learners who are financially insecure.
