Wild Rock Outfitters is marking a significant milestone this month, celebrating 30 years since opening its doors on Charlotte Street in downtown Peterborough.
In 1992, co-founders Kieran Andrews and Scott Murison, both 24 years old and working at an outdoor recreation gear retailer in Ottawa, shared the goal of opening their own store. Peterborough, recalls Murison, checked all the boxes in terms of they were looking for.
Murison adds that key to Wild Rock’s success has been the dynamic between himself and Andrews.
Not lost on Murison is the role that Wild Rock customers’ loyalty has played in the store’s success.
On September 10th – the actual anniversary date – Wild Rock Outfitters will host a public celebration from 3 to 9 p.m. featuring in-store specials, food, refreshments and live music featuring Mayhemingways.
