The Peterborough Lakers continued on the winning path last night, doubling up on Langley 10-5 to win their third game in a row. The Lakers now lead the best-of-seven series with a chance to clinch the Mann Cup on Friday night.
A Peterborough win tomorrow would not only make them the first Mann Cup four-peat champions since 1954, it would also give them their 18th Mann Cup in franchise history, the most by any team in the Cup’s 90-year box lacrosse history.
Matt Vinc was spectacular between the pipes for Peterborough. The St. Catharine’s native stopped 35 shots and was awarded the game’s first star.
Holden Cattoni once again led the offence with a five-goal performance and six-point night while Joe Resetarits chipped in with two goals and two assists. Single goals went to Mark Matthews, Chad Tutton and Mitch Ogilvie while Shawn Evans picked up four assists, breaking the all-time Mann Cup record for points in the process.
The Lakers finally get a much needed and well-deserved day off today before game 6 tomorrow night at 8pm.
