Peterborough’s newly-minted OPP detachment commander is in the first week of his new role, bringing considerable experience as interim commander to the table.
Inspector Chris Galeazza, who joined the OPP ranks in 1998, was named acting commander in June 2021 when his predecessor was promoted to superintendent. As he takes on his new responsibilities, he’s thrilled that his appointment is now official.
As he looks ahead, Inspector Galeazza says his command approach will be guided by his belief that if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.
Inspector Galeazza acknowledges the many challenges facing police in the 21st century are daunting but assures those under his command are well positioned to meet them.
Inspector Galeazza holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a focus in criminology from Brock University, and has completed the Senior Police Administration Course at the Canadian Police College. He is also the recipient of the Police Exemplary Service Medal.
