While acknowledging she didn’t “do everything perfectly,” outgoing Peterborough mayor Diane Therrien says it’s more helpful to focus on the future than dwell on any regrets.
During a sit-down this week with YourTV, Mayor Therrien acknowledged that her rocky-at-times working relationship with City staff was a distraction.
Asked if Peterborough is in a better place now than it was when she elected mayor four years ago, Mayor Therrien said challenges remain, such as the opioid poisoning crisis and the need for affordable housing, but said progress was made in one key area.
While Mayor Therrien stopped short of outright endorsing any one of the five candidates for her seat, she did reference Stephen Wright by name, saying he has “a good vision” and “isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers.” The city, she said, needs a bold, forward-thinking leader.
Along with Wright, the other candidates for mayor are Henry Clarke, Jeff Leal, Victor Kreuz and Brian Lumsden. Peterborough heads to the polls October 24th.
