Although it opened in 1967, the Peterborough Museum and Archives still welcomes many first-time visitors who share a curiosity around the Peterborough region’s heritage and past.
Via rotating exhibitions and the permanent gallery artifacts, the museum offers an insightful glimpse into the people, milestones and cultural shifts that have marked the both development and progress of both Peterborough city and county.
Welcoming first-time visitors is a joy that curator Kim Reid shares with museum staff and volunteers.
Reid notes that while a museum dedicated to local history dates back as far as 1891 when the Victoria Museum opened in Inverlea Park, the current museum grew from the vision of local citizens.
The Museum and Archives is located atop Armour Hill off Hunter Street East on East City. Visit www.peterborough.ca/en/explore-and-play/museum-and-archives.aspx for more information.
