Newly elected Otonabee-South Monaghan deputy mayor Bonnie Clark will be acclaimed the new warden of Peterborough County on December 1st.
Clark was the only county councillor to put her name forward for the position. In doing so, she now becomes just the third woman to sit at the top of the county political structure, her predecessors in that regard being Doris Brick and Elizabeth Tanner.
Clark says her leadership style has been, and will remain, rooted in close collaboration with her council colleagues.
Acknowledging that land annexation will be “one of the hot topics” moving forward, Clark says building a good working relationship with her City of Peterborough counterpart will be key.
Clark says J. Murray Jones, who served a total of five terms as warden, “left things more than in good shape.”
Clark will serve two years as warden. One of her first tasks will be to appoint a deputy warden.
