The local United Way has been pegged to help administer a portion of $400 million provided by the federal government for community service organizations that are dealing with immediate and long-term impacts of the pandemic.
The aim of the Community Services Recovery Fund is to strengthen the ability of charities and non-profits to deliver services and resources where they will have the most impact. That, says United Way community impact manager Betsy Farrar, is particularly vital post-pandemic.
Farrar notes the United Way will receive applications for the Program and Service Innovation and Redesign portion of the funding, with projects between May 1st and June 30th, 2023 eligible.
Farrar adds the United Way is thrilled to be involved.
Along with the United Way, the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough and the Canadian Red Cross have also been tasked to administer funding streams.
