Kawartha Food Share and the United Way will be the big winners on January 22nd at a fundraiser featuring several local musicians.
A Hand Up, presented by Dream Team Concerts, will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. at The Junction in downtown Peterborough, with performances by Bowie Lives Unplugged, High Waters Band, Baz Littlerock and Tyson Briden, Jessie Slack, SJ Riley and Ty Wilson.
Peterborough deputy police chief Tim Farquharson, who is with Dream Team Concerts, says admission is free but a donation in support of the challenges around homelessness, poverty, mental health and addictions is requested.
Deputy Chief Farquharson, whose annual Stand With Tim initiative helps similar causes, remains in awe of local musicians’ willingness to give of their time and talent.
Involved with Dream Team Concerts for a few years now, Deputy Chief Farquharson says the group’s mission is simple but vital.
A Hand Up will also feature a silent auction with The Junction providing a portion of drink sale proceeds.
