Peterborough Paramedics and Fairhaven Long Term Care have teamed up for Earth Month, launching a pilot program to sustainably recycle their disposable masks.
This pilot program will save thousands of masks from ending up in our landfill.
It’s estimated that Fairhaven uses 500 masks a day, or approximately 15,000 a month, and that paramedics use around 220 a day, or 6,600 month.
Peterborough County’s Warden, Bonnie Clark, gave us some details on how the process works.
Fairhaven Long Term Care’s Programs & Support Manager, Rhonda Lustic, adds that their sustainable actions won’t stop here.
This program aims to keep over 21,000 surgical masks from ending up in landfills this month.
