The Petes didn’t look too far for their first-round pick in the OHL Priority Selection.
Peterborough took Carson Cameron of Bobcaygeon with the 13th overall pick on Friday night. Cameron is a 6’0″ defenceman who captained the Central Ontario Wolves last season, scoring 32 points in 29 games. Cameron was also a member of gold medal winning Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games.
General Manager Mike Oke says he’s a good skater, makes good decisions with the puck, and utilizes his stick well to defend, taking away passing and shooting lanes.
He becomes the sixth player that the Petes have selected 13th overall. Previous 13th overall picks include Dave Morrison (1979), Ken Strong (1980), Larry Shaw (1983), Ryan Ramsey (1999), and Eric Staal (2000).
PTBOToday.ca’s Scott Arnold caught up with Cameron to talk about being taken by his hometown team.
