Nominations are open for the Schofield Award of Community Distinction, presented annually to an individual or organization that has mobilized positive change in the community.
First presented in 2004 to longtime philanthropists and community builders Paul and Ina Scholfield, the awarded has been presented since by the United Way of Peterborough and District.
Development and communication officer Sara Mountenay says the award.
Mountenay adds the award serves the added purpose of encouraging people to put forth the names of those who are worthy of recognition in a big way.
While the United Way relies on the donation of financial gifts to fund its partner agencies, Mountenay says the Scholfield Award recognizes another equally important and significant contribution.
Nominations for the Scholfield Award close June 8. For an online nomination form, visit www.uwpeterborough.ca
