Each year, the best skilled trades and technology students from across the province are pitted against each other during the Skills Ontario competition.
The event gives students a chance to use their skills and knowledge in a high-pressure environment in front of family, friends and future employers.
Over the course of the two-and-a-half-day competition, several Fleming College students went home with some new hardware.
Owen Mitchell took home a Silver medal in Welding, and Kenzie Backus received a Bronze medal in the Metal Fabricator competition. Recent graduate Joel Tucker also received a Bronze medal in the Individual Carpentry competition.
Fleming College’s booth at the event also got a lot of attention, awarded 1st place for its unique design and interactive displays.
