Joint funding from the provincial and federal governments will help make living more affordable for those at the new Hunt Terraces.
Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith made an announcement on Monday, that over $2.4 million will assist in lowering rent at the 85-unit apartment building on Bonaccord Street. The money comes through the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative.
Hunt Terraces is run by Peterborough Housing Corporation.
Peterborough-Kawartha MP Michelle Ferreri applauded the move. In a statement she said, “this building supports daycare, senior supports, affordable housing, supportive housing, community spaces, commercial space, and much more, all on the same property. Huge congratulations to Peterborough Housing Corporation and the innovative new build that will house 85 individuals in our community”.
Ferreri is the Conservative Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development.
Peterborough Mayor Jeff Leal and Peterborough County Warden Bonnie Clark also attended the announcement.
