The City of Peterborough has announced its final large item collection for the year 2023, scheduled for the week of Monday, September 25th.
This service allows for the disposal of items larger than the weekly garbage allowance, such as furniture and appliances, for a fee.
The cost for this service is $30 for the first item, and an additional $10 for each additional item. It’s important to note that mattresses and box springs are subject to a $30 fee each and do not count as the first item.
Residents looking to take advantage of this service can book their collection online or by calling 705-742-7777 extension 1865.
The deadline for booking for the upcoming collection is 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19th.
Those with scheduled collections are requested to have their items at the curb by 7 a.m. on the first day of collection. Depending on the number of pickups scheduled each month, it may take several days to complete the collection, therefore, residents are urged to leave the items they’ve booked for pickup at the curb.
For the safe disposal of refrigeration items, residents must ensure that Freon is removed prior to collection. Please note that automobile parts, televisions, and monitors will not be accepted as part of this collection. These items can be disposed of at the Hazardous and Electronic Waste Depot located at 400 Pido Rd., open from Wednesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Building or construction material can be properly disposed of at the Landfill, situated at 1260 Bensfort Rd.
For more information and details regarding the large item collection and waste management in the City of Peterborough, residents are encouraged to contact the Waste Management Division at 705-742-7777 extension 1657.
