As a fourth generation dairy farmer with her sister Lacey, Steph Warner is “very proud” to carry on her family’s legacy at Ronbeth Holsteins near Hastings.
Warner says the farm was more of a hobby farm when her great-grandfather worked it but her grandfather “became more interested in the dairy side of things,” setting the stage for its current complement of 150 cows, of which 55 are currently being milked.
Not unlike many offspring who have become full-time farmers, Warner says she was sure early on that this is what she wanted to do for a living.
A typical day for Warner starts at 3:45 a.m. with a much-needed coffee and then it’s off to the barn.
