The City of Peterborough has awarded the contract for the conversion of decorative street lights to more efficient LED fixtures to Guild Electric Limited. The project is tentatively scheduled to begin on or after November 1st, with the majority of the work expected to be completed by late fall in 2024.
In 2017, the City had already retrofitted standard luminaires to LED fixtures for increased energy efficiency. The current proposal aims to convert the remaining decorative streetlights to LED fixtures.
The scope of work includes the supply and installation of LED retrofit kits with smart photocell controllers and accessories for all roadway decorative streetlights. This involves the removal and disposal of existing High Pressure Sodium (HPS) internal components and the installation of low-voltage cable and fuse kits where necessary.
The decorative street lighting retrofit locations will be in various areas, including Downtown Peterborough, the West End of Peterborough, and the Heritage Park Subdivision. Local traffic access will be maintained during the project, with traffic control provided by Guild Electric Limited as needed.
