Environment Canada is calling for a major storm set to move in later this morning, with 10 to 15 cm of snow expected and a risk of freezing rain, creating hazardous travel conditions. The snow is expected to change to rain tonight as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
Due to the forecasted winter storm conditions expected later this morning and this afternoon, all busing and school transportation is cancelled today for all of the STSCO jurisdiction, including Peterborough, Northumberland, and Clarington areas.
Schools will remain open but STSCO busing is cancelled for those KPR, PVNC and Mon. Jamot schools served by STSCO.
The same goes for those in the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County, with buses for the Trillium Lakelands DSB also cancelled. Schools will remain open and learning opportunities will continue for students who are able to safely attend in-person.
Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation of their students to and from school on inclement weather days. Drop-off and pick-up must occur in alignment with the regular school day start and end times.
