Some Rogers and Fido customers can expect higher bills starting on January 17.
Depending on the customer’s plan, that increase could be between 7 and 9 dollars per month.
Matt Hatfield of OpenMedia, a non-profit advocacy group, says the problem is bigger than just one company.
According to Hatfield, Canadians already pay some of the highest telecom rates in the world and don’t need anymore increases.
Hatfield adds that customers choices are limited, but they might consider “shopping around” to find a more affordable plan.
