There’s a first time for everything and, for Betty Halman-Plumley, that means a brave leap into icy cold Chemong Lake this Sunday (February 4th).
As the current president of the Rotary Club of Peterborough, Halman-Plumley will participate in the 44th annual B-E-L Rotary Polar Plunge. Set to begin at 2 p.m. off Rotary Park in Ennismore, the event sees participants raise money for the club as well as the charity of their choice.
Halman-Plumley, whose plunge attire will reflect the event’s Barbie theme, is high on the individual fundraiser list with close to $1,500 in pledges. Still, she admits to be apprehensive as the big day nears.
As for her costume, Halman-Plumley is embracing the theme.
While she admits jumping into a freezing lake isn’t on her bucket list, Halman-Plumley does foresee a sense of accomplishment in the aftermath.
Halman-Plumley will direct her half of her fundraised amount back to her home Rotary club.
