With statistics revealing that 72 percent of entrepreneurs struggle with mental health challenges, it has emerged that strategic planning must reflect that sobering reality and what can be done to meet it head-on.
Entrepreneurship is, more often than not, unpredictable, the result of unforeseeable events and circumstances that can, and often do, have a significant impact on the business. As such, managing the resulting stress is crucial, with regular exercise, meditation and breaks among the proactive measures that can and should be practiced.
In response, the Innovation Cluster of Peterborough and the Kawarthas is championing mental health tools for entrepreneurs, ensuring attention is paid to this all-too-often neglected area. It has held mental health workshops as well as placed an emphasis on clients’ self-care by encouraging rest, self-awareness and other measures.
