Trent University hosted its 55th annual Athletics Awards last night, celebrating the achievements of its student-athletes in a night filled with recognition and appreciation.
The event, held at the Trent Athletics Centre, brought together student-athletes, staff, and special guests to honor the dedication and sportsmanship displayed throughout the year by Excalibur student-athletes.
A highlight of the evening was a special tribute to outgoing Trent president and vice-chancellor, Dr. Leo Groarke, acknowledging his steadfast support for Trent Athletics. Nathan McFadden, Director of Athletics & Recreation, expressed gratitude for President Groarke’s vision and dedication, which have played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and inclusivity within the Trent Excalibur community.
The evening also saw recognition for the generous contributions made to the Excalibur Fund in support of varsity athletics by Trent Board Chair, Debra Cooper Burger, matched by President Groarke and Dr. Cathy Bruce, president-designate and current vice president of Research & Innovation at Trent. McFadden praised this collaborative effort as a testament to the university’s commitment to enriching the student-athlete experience and fostering a culture of success and excellence.
