If you’re driving to reach an eclipse event or destination, Ontario Provincial Police want you to remember that many others likely have that same idea.
OPP are also reminding drivers against wearing solar eclipse glasses while driving, or trying to snap photos of the celestial event from behind the wheel of a car. They are also asking drivers not to pull over or stop on a roadway to view the eclipse.
Acting Sergeant Brianna Roberge of the OPP says those planning to attend an eclipse event should not make it a last-minute decision; listen ahead to local radio to find out what’s planned in your area.
Roberge says even if it ends up being cloudy this afternoon, using your headlights while driving during the eclipse period is what you should be doing.
The numbers of police on the highways today will be greatest along the path of totality.
