A two-time Olympic athlete who made Peterborough his home has died at age 86.
An accomplished sprint kayaker, Michael Brown represented Canada at the 1960 Olympics in Rome and again in 1964 in Tokyo in the 1,000 metre singles and doubles events.
Born and raised in Montreal, Brown moved to Peterborough in 1978 and worked for Bell Canada for 36 years. Upon retirement, he volunteered at the Canadian Canoe Museum where his competitive kayaking achievements are formally chronicled.
