With Global Accessibility Awareness Day being marked this Thursday (May 16th), DeafBlind Ontario Services is urging us to talk, think and learn more about increased inclusion for those with disabilities and impairments.
Public relations manager Karen Madho says while the day will go a long way toward increasing awareness, it’s also a reminder of the steps taken that have helped many Ontarians lead live fuller lives.
Madho references Sara, a Peterborough woman who is deaf and living with a developmental disability, as an example of someone who strives to ‘live her best life’ with the support of professionals and her community.
Moving forward, Madho says the goal is to support people in being as active as they want to be.
DeafBlind Ontario Services supports people who are deafblind as well as those who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or non-verbal dues to a developmental disability.
