Peterborough Police made six arrests in connection with separate shoplifting incidents on Wednesday.
A 52-year-old man from Cavan-Monaghan was arrested twice for thefts at businesses on Charlotte Street and Lansdowne Street. The first incident occurred around 2:10pm, and the second around 5:15pm. He was released on an undertaking after the first arrest but was held in custody after the second. He faces two counts of theft under $5,000.
A 47-year-old Peterborough man was arrested after attempting to leave a store without paying for items around 2:00pm. Police later discovered he was also wanted on a warrant in another jurisdiction. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and released on an appearance notice for court on October 1.
A 62-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested by loss prevention officers at a Lansdowne Street business around 5:45pm, after allegedly leaving without paying for several items. She was charged with theft under $5,000 and released on an undertaking, with a court date set for October 1.
A 41-year-old Peterborough man was taken into custody after loss prevention officers observed him putting items into a duffle bag and leaving a store without paying. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and released on an undertaking, also scheduled to appear in court on October 1.
A 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested around 8:40pm, after officers responded to a report of a male concealing items at a local business. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on October 1.
In each case, the stolen items were recovered, totaling over $1,000 in value. Peterborough Police thanked the loss prevention officers for their assistance.
