A goal of $1.5 million has been set by the United Way Peterborough & District for its annual campaign.
The launch was held on Wednesday at Healthy Planet Arena with around 200 people in attendance.
CEO Jim Russell says this is a moment he always looks forward to.
Realtor Shirley Turner was also introduced as this year’s Campaign Chair – someone Russell says is a perfect choice.
Russell says the campaign will be success through hard work, fun and telling the United Way’s story in effective ways.
With healthy representation from all sectors across Peterborough & District, including Trent University, GM Financial, Swish Maintenance, Scotia Bank, CMHA Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge and many more, the event launched this year’s theme, “Building Community”.
Christian Harvey (One City Peterborough), Kristal Craighead-Jones (Elizabeth Fry Society of Peterborough), and Dane Record (PARN) described how United Way Peterborough & District fosters collaboration amongst agencies in our community. Sharing stories from their collective work at the Trinity Centre, these agencies described how the United Way campaign provides essential support for their services.
