When Peterborough region beef farmers have concerns, both individually and as a group, securing the ear of politicians and government officials is invaluable in achieving some resolution.
Enter the Peterborough County Cattlemen’s Association.
Representing beef farmers across the county, the association meets yearly with all levels of government, providing, as association president Mike Fallis notes, a direct link with those who set policy and impose guidelines beef farmers must adhere to. In addition, the association is well-represented in its dealings with Beef Farmers of Ontario and the Canadian Cattle Association.
In terms of community outreach, Fallis says the association remains very active – something best exemplified by the 42nd annual beef barbecue that drew hundreds to the Cornish family farm in Indian River back in August.
