In October 2023, what was Cody and James Chartered Professional Accountants embarked on an exciting new chapter, joining the Ascend LLP partnership of small- to mid-sized accounting firms based in communities right across Canada.
Located on Fisher Driver in Peterborough, the firm still offers a wide range of services for both individual and business clients, the suite of services offered including tax planning and return preparation, cash flow and budgeting analysis, and accounting.
One year on, senior partner Gwyneth James admits the transition to Ascend LLP initially posed a learning curve in terms of “a slightly different focus” but the opportunity the change promised was simply too good for her and her partner Suzanne Cody to pass up in terms of better servicing their clients.
Having walked the walk of change, says James, has better positioned her firm to advise clients considering or experiencing change.
While Small Business Week, says James, is, in large part, a celebration of entrepreneurs’ commitment to their passion, she adds it’s also a time to reflect on how supportive the local small business owners are of each other.
James adds when all is said and done, a smart entrepreneur recognizes when he or her is stretched to the limit, consequently seeking help with one or some of their many tasks.
