The Ontario government is investing $9,536,982 to renew critical infrastructure in Peterborough, with funding expected to be delivered in 2025 through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). This investment is part of a broader $190 billion capital plan aimed at enhancing homes, highways, hospitals, transit, and high-speed internet across the province.
MPP Dave Smith emphasized that this funding will significantly benefit Peterborough’s downtown core, noting its formula-based nature allows municipalities to plan for essential projects each year.
In total, Ontario will allocate $400 million in OCIF funding in 2025 to assist 423 small, rural, and northern communities in upgrading roads, bridges, and water infrastructure.
