The Peterborough Petes are set to begin a challenging three-game road trip tonight, with back-to-back games in Michigan against Saginaw and Flint before wrapping up the weekend on Sunday in Windsor. The Petes, still looking for their first win of the season, are aiming to bounce back after a hard-fought 4-3 shootout loss to the Oshawa Generals at home earlier this week.
Head Coach Rob Wilson said his team gave everything they had on Tuesday, adding that he was happy with their play in the first two periods but thought they need a better third-period performance. The Petes took three minors in the final frame, which Wilson described as careless and ultimately costly.
Wilson says he’s proud of his players and the effort they’ve been giving each game but feels that some of their mental mistakes are becoming costly, citing a neutral zone play that led to Oshawa’s game-tying goal on Tuesday.
As the Petes begin a tough stretch of games on the road this weekend, Wilson is realistic about the challenge ahead but says they have to remain positive and not get down on themselves.
