‘Be A Santa To A Senior’ is returning for a sixth year, with the goal of collecting and distributing 1,400 gifts to local older adults, many of whom wouldn’t receive a gift at all.
An initiative of Home Instead Senior Care, the program invites people to visit one of six tree locations, select an ornament with a name on it, and then shop for a gift for that person and return it in a gift bag to the tree location with the ornament attached.
Home Instead Senior Care owner Glen Robson says Be A Santa To A Senior quickly became “near and dear” to their heart and is now looking at passing the 10,000 gift mark.
Robson says Be A Santa To A Senior is really an extension of what the business does every day of the year.
Robson says none of the suggested items that can be purchased for a senior are a big hit on the wallet but each makes a difference in a senior’s life.
Tree locations are Wellwise by Shoppers, Sherwin-Williams and Gentry Apparel in Peterborough, and, in Lakefield, Salon Sorella and Day Spa and Lakefield IDA Pharmacy. Meanwhile, Robson says there’s still time to be put on the list for a gift. For details, visit facebook.com/homeinsteadpeterborough.
