Key recommendations from the meeting included reducing advertising expenses for Strategic Communications by $15,000, cutting preventative maintenance and custodial costs for facilities by 20%, and eliminating the proposed Climate Change Coordinator position.
Council also discussed strategies to increase revenue from the city’s parking garages, proposed parking penalty increases, and the creation of five new full-time positions in the Municipal Law Enforcement Services Division.
Today’s meeting, schedule from 9am to 5pm, will continue the budget review, focusing on Municipal Operations and Community Services. The public can watch the meeting online at peterborough.ca/WatchCouncil. A final decision on the budget is expected on December 9th.
