Named after Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International, the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition is the club’s highest honour. It acknowledges individuals for leadership in Community, International, Vocational, Youth, Environmental, and Club Service.
Recipients included Dr. Douglas Chenoweth, recognized for his over 40 years of service to Peterborough’s medical community, and Don Barrie, who has inspired generations through his dedication to youth sports, particularly lacrosse. Mike Henry was acknowledged for his environmental advocacy, including his efforts to protect Ontario’s natural heritage.
Two community leaders, Gordon Bowley and Sandra Whitmore, were co-recognized for their lifelong commitment to improving lives in Peterborough, from organizing fishing derbies to providing holiday meals and gifts to those in need.
Laurie Heigh received the International Service award for her humanitarian work in Nicaragua and local community initiatives. Wayne Harding, who led the Rotary Club through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, was honoured for his outstanding service in Club Service.
The event celebrated the lasting impact these leaders have made both locally and globally.
