
A Kingston man has been charged with sexual assault after an incident in Peterborough last Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say they were made aware of an incident that had happened earlier in the afternoon involving a part-time course instructor at Trent University in the Mathematics Department and a student.
They say that the incident happened when the student asked for extra help in preparation for an exam, and during the meeting, which was off campus at a local business at the request of the part-time course instructor, there was non-consensual touching.
As a result, an investigation was conducted and a 47-year-old with the initals A.M. was arrested in Kingston and brought back to Peterborough and appeared in court over the weekend.
The Peterborough Police Service says it takes reports of sexual assault very seriously and is very aware about the importance of a trauma-informed response and add that in this case, the Peterborough Police Service has concerns that there may be other victims, which is why they chose to release the name of the suspect.
