Authorities are continuing their search after receiving reports of a man calling for help near the Trent Severn Waterway in Hastings on Thursday evening.
Northumberland OPP were alerted to the incident at approximately 4:35 p.m. on December 26th. A member of the public reported hearing the cries in the area of Valley View Lane.
Officers, joined by Emergency Medical Services and the Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department, patrolled trails and roads on both sides of the waterway. Specialized search efforts included deploying Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems from both the OPP Emergency Response Team and the fire department, as well as assistance from OPP Aviation Services.
Despite extensive efforts, the search yielded no results. Authorities believe the individual was likely on the south side of the waterway, but as of 9:00 p.m., no one had been located.
