The Otonabee Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Watch for the area as Peterborough is expected to see warmer temperatures and up to 40mm of rainfall starting tomorrow, through until Tuesday.
Officials say that snowmelt and rainfall occurring on frozen ground is expected to cause many watercourses and wetlands within local municipalities to exceed their normal confines, possibly making some low-lying sections of roadways impassable.
ORCA believes that any flooding we may see will be minor, but, water pooling / ponding on the land and unsafe ice conditions on the water will also be widespread occurrences during this rainfall-snowmelt event.
