Tributes continue to pour in following the death of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
Carter, who served a single term from 1977 to 1981, died on Sunday at the age of 100.
The Georgia-native was known for his work outside the Oval Office, in particular with Habitat for Humanity.
Locally, Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region posted a statement on its social media account:
“Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was a true friend to Habitat for Humanity and worked tirelessly to make the world a better place. He helped families build and repair homes—including more than 180 Habitat homes across Canada—shone a light on the tremendous global need for decent and affordable shelter, and brought hope and opportunity to communities around the world. Please join us in remembering him and celebrating the positive impact he had on so many.”
