A Trent University alum has been appointed to the Order of Canada.
Dr. Jeffrey McDonnell is a professor of hydrology and associate director of Global Institute for Water Security whose award-winning research has had a seminal impact on the advancement of water security and deepened understanding of the water cycle. His research has led to new techniques for measuring how rainfall moves through landscapes, and improved understanding of how watersheds store and release water.
Dr. McDonnell has received several prizes for his work, including the 2016 International Hydrological Prize from International Association of Hydrological Sciences, UNESCO and the World Meteorological Organization.
Dr. McDonnell’s appointment was announced by Governor General Mary Simon, who served as Trent’s seventh Chancellor. He will be invited to an upcoming investiture ceremony to receive his insignia.
