The first baby of 2025 in Peterborough arrived in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
At 2:04 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1st, Loretta Shaughnessy and Ryan Heise welcomed their baby boy, Maverick Raymond Heise, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
Weighing in at 6 lbs. 13 oz., Maverick was safely delivered with the support of PRHC’s dedicated medical team. Both Loretta and baby Maverick are doing well, and the family is overjoyed by their newest addition. Maverick’s big sister, Florence, is eagerly awaiting the chance to meet her little brother.
“We can’t say enough about the incredible care we received from the nurses and doctors here,” said Loretta, expressing gratitude for the exceptional support she received during the delivery. A special moment for the family was the presence of Loretta’s sister, a Labour and Delivery nurse at PRHC, who attended the birth as a support person while off duty.
Maverick’s middle name, Raymond, holds a deep family connection. He is named in honor of Loretta’s grandfather, Ray Lowery, who passed away shortly after the couple learned they were expecting.
