The newest member of the Petes is big, tough and has experience playing professionally across the pond.
Rio Kaiser, who was just signed to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, comes from Germany where he spent time in the DEL, with Eisbären Berlin.
The 6’7″ defenceman was selected in the first round, 31st overall, of the 2023 CHL Import Draft. Kaiser says he’s heard great things about the OHL and believes this was the best step for his development.
Kaiser says he’s always been one of the biggest players on his teams, but there is more to his game than just size.
The Berlin-native has represented Germany at various international levels, most recently suiting up for Germany U20 at the 2025 World Junior Championships in Ottawa.
Kaiser, who is wearing number 17, played his first two games with the team against Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury.
