Peterborough Utilities is warning residents about a recent phone scam targeting customers in the area. Individuals have reported receiving calls claiming they are eligible for up to $400 in rebates, with an offer for someone to visit their home to inspect their water heater.
The company has confirmed that they are not affiliated with these callers, and such inspections are not arranged through their services.
Residents are advised to hang up on any unsolicited calls offering rebates or home inspections related to water heaters. Anyone who suspects they have been contacted by a scammer can report it to Peterborough Police through their online portal.
