The Peterborough Regional Health Centre has earned a prestigious spot among Canada’s Best Employers for 2025, as recognized by Forbes.
Ranked 199th overall and within the top 20 employers nationwide in the healthcare and social services sector, the achievement highlights the hospital’s commitment to fostering a thriving workplace.
“Every day, I see the work that our healthcare leaders, staff, physicians, and volunteers put in to make our regional hospital such a special place,” said Dr. Lynn Mikula, PRHC’s President and CEO. “It’s wonderful to see a prestigious organization like Forbes recognizing that too. At PRHC, our greatest strength is our people. One team, here for our community when you need us most.”
As the region’s largest employer, PRHC supports a team of over 3,100 staff, 450 physicians with privileges, and 250 core volunteers. Together, they deliver acute healthcare to more than 300,000 residents in Peterborough and surrounding communities, including the First Nations of Curve Lake, Alderville, and Hiawatha.
The hospital’s focus on staff well-being is reflected in its 2024–2029 Strategic Plan, which emphasizes creating a workplace where employees and volunteers can thrive. This dedication has contributed to PRHC’s recognition on Forbes’ list, which is compiled in partnership with Statista, a market research firm.
The ranking is based on surveys of over 40,000 Canadian employees from organizations with at least 500 staff. Respondents evaluated employers on various factors, including salary, work flexibility, training programs, and advancement opportunities. Scores were calculated using three years of data, with the top 300 organizations making the final list.
For PRHC, officials say this recognition underscores the hospital’s mission to not only serve its community with excellence but also to support its team members in achieving their best.
