Kawartha Lakes Police have arrested two Lindsay men in connection with a series of thefts from local businesses, bringing an end to a spree that targeted cosmetics and alcohol retailers.
The first suspect, a 49-year-old man, was charged following multiple incidents at a local store. On January 20th, he was caught on surveillance footage concealing a significant quantity of cosmetics and leaving without paying. He returned on two subsequent days, committing similar thefts, all captured on video. Officers located and arrested the suspect on January 25 at 11:10 p.m. He faces three counts each of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
In a separate investigation, a 30-year-old man was arrested on January 26th at approximately 3:33 p.m. on Russell Street West. Between January 23rd and January 25th, he allegedly stole items from two local alcohol retailers, with video evidence leading to his identification. He also faces three counts each of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The suspect was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
